National Media Development Center (NMDC) is established for the empowerment of provincial media in Nepal and other developing countries of the world. Currently, NMDC''''s major field activities are concentrated  for the promotion of Health Journalism, Civic Journalism and Basic/Rural  Journalism in the districts of Nepal.

Empowerment of Health Journalism, especially focusing on reproductive health is our one of the major components that was started in December 2007. Until August 2010, it has provided HJT to 308 mid-career journalists including 139 women across the country. All of them are working in national and local media producing several news and articles on public health (PH).
